Meet Miss Serbia Dragana Atilja

Beauty with brains is how the reigning divas of the modelling world are gradually becoming. They are young, ambitious, determined, intelligent and fiercely successful. Meet Miss Serbia 2008, and participant at Miss Universe 2009 held at Bahamas, USA, where she was proclaimed as Goddess of Europe by people around- Dragana Atilja. She also holds the title of Miss Global Beauty Queen 2008 held in China, where she also won the titles of “Miss Body Beautiful? "Miss Bikini Charm". MM explores her past, present and future.

Dragana was still a student when she decided to plunge into the world of glamour. “My intention was to enrol in faculty of Economics. However in 2008, I applied for the selection of Miss Serbia, and as a finalist I won a scholarship to study at university for the Stock Exchange market. After the pageant I started with my study and have successfully finished the second year. Now I plan to continue forward and finish the course.”

When quizzed on her experience & most memorable moments at the Miss Universe pageant, Dragana recalls, “there are so many moments that I remember, for example when we realised that there was a whole team of people working on each of us and helping us to become better, this was something very striking. During the entire preparation for the pageant you have people around you who work for you and on you yet do not even know you. And of course the moment on the stage, when you know that the whole earth is watching you.”

She loves being a part of beauty pageants as she believes there is so much to learn. “Such pageants are a very pleasant experience, you can learn new things and one gets to travel, make new friends, and one acquires the prerequisites for a future job.” She also feels that one needs to be ambitious and should continuously keep working on oneself to make it to the top.

We asked her what has been her biggest achievement in modelling and she replies with clarity, “The biggest success of a model is working on a great campaign for a great brand and also to be the protective character of such a brand.”

Being crowned Miss Serbia has given a different dimension to her life. “This has changed my perspective towards life. Even after many years I will be able to remember it. This will stay with me throughout my life.” Says Dragana who has Cleopatra has her role model.

Dragana plans to continue to work hard to be at the top. “I will try and continue to be successful in everything I do, and of course to strive for the better. I want to win the world and will try to achieve it with my commitment and professionalism.”
